What are your general co-op duties?

Focused on research, development, and prototyping of next-generation high-speed neurosurgical drills scheduled for launch in 5–8 years. Conducted root cause analysis on current model returns from the field to identify areas for improvement. Collaborated with the upstream marketing team to engage with neurosurgeons, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to gather feedback on existing models.

What surprises/unexpected outcomes have your experienced on co-op?

The biggest surprise of this co-op was getting to work in cadaver labs for both customer experience sessions and validation testing on pre-launch products!

What has been the coolest part of your co-op experience?

Being part of a large intern class at a major company was an incredible experience. There were 80 interns in my building, another 50 in the area, and 450 worldwide. This created endless networking opportunities and helped shape my future with the company.

How will your co-op influence your career?

During the final week of my internship, I accepted a full-time position with the company.

What have you learned as a co-op that you wouldn't have learned from your coursework?

Always sell yourself — whether it’s to the marketing team, engineering team, regulatory staff, production crew, or quality team. The more people you connect with during your short time on co-op, the more memorable and impressive you’ll be. Make that impact clear by inviting everyone you’ve worked with to your final presentation — and knock it out of the park!
